Snowboarding Bags and Travel Gear
Snowboards can be an expensive
and highly specialized piece of equipment. Unless you live in or close by a ski resort, it's
important to get a good quality bag to protect the board from any rough and tumble during your trip to the ski
fields.
Ensure the snowboarding bags you are looking at are water resistant to prevent the snowboard from becoming
wet, that it is durable and that has straps that can easily bear the weight of the snowboard.
Although this may sound obvious, ensure you select a bag that fits your board. Choose a snowboarding bag that is
slightly larger than your board. Check to ensure that is wide enough to securely close around all of your
gear, including board, bindings and boots. It's not a bad idea to take your gear to the store and test a
bag's size in person to ensure it fits properly. Some bags are designed to carry more than one
snowboard.
Think carefully for a moment
about your particular needs. If you always drive to the snow, select a snowboarding bag that offers adequate
protection of your board in the car and in storage. If you intend to take your board on a train or a
plane, choose a good quality bag with durable wheels for easier transportation. Many
airlines are reluctant to allow skis or snowboards onto the flight if they are not adequately packed. Wheeling the
bag around is a better proposition than carrying it long distances.
If you're travelling by plane or
train look for a bag that is well padded. Padding isn't essential if you handle your board
yourself, but it does offer much needed protection from the impact of other checked luggage.
When choosing your snowboarding bag be on the look out for
ones that are made out of heavy-duty materials, have compartments and padded shoulder straps. It’s a
good idea to pick a color and pattern combination that is appealing and that can be easily identified on a
baggage carousel or truck.
